Elections 2017 - Runnymede Candidates

These are some of our Runnymede candidates in the County Council elections on 4 May. We will post information about the others as we receive it. They are standing on a manifesto which prioritises:

  • building a Green economy which creates local jobs
  • protecting the Green Belt and our wider countryside
  • ensuring safe, sustainable, accessible and healthy modes of transport across Surrey
  • defending our public services so that all Surrey residents have a good quality of life
  • working with honesty and transparency to the highest possible standards

Please support your Green candidate!

Addlestone - Richard Miller

Richard MillerI'm a retired geologist standing for the environment.
I'm standing for the Green Belt and its long term future, not for building on it.
I'm standing for the Surrey Wildlife Trust rangers, all made redundant this year to save money.
I'm standing for never again using Council's open space funds for the erection of a statue in Runnymede.
I'm standing for the enforcement of current bye-laws governing tipping, pollution and other misuse of natural resources.
I'm standing for reasons of climate change and flood control.
I’m standing for councillors with no vested interest in environmental destruction.
I’m standing for you.

Egham - Fergus Monro

Fergus MonroI am a second year at Royal Holloway University studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Our political landscape is changing drastically, as seen by Brexit and Trump, and we need to show our compassion for the Green party principles while keeping our minds open as to why people voted the way they did both within the United Kingdom and in the United States. With these changes to the political landscape, now more than ever environmental policies have been brought sharply into focus. Now more than ever we must fight to protect this planet and all those that live within.

Englefield Green - Lee-Anne Lawrance

Lee-Anne LawranceLee-Anne Lawrance is a public speaker and activist. Their activism currently focuses on political reform, human rights, and the environment. Lee-Anne is a non-binary person: someone who does not wholly identify as a man or as a woman. They created the #XMyPassport campaign to add a third gender marker to British passports and successfully introduced policies to the Green Party that explicitly recognise trans and non-binary people. Lee-Anne Lawrance says "Heartless Conservative cuts to local services impact on the whole community and its environment. A Green councillor will challenge the council and offer a fresh, new voice for the community."
