The Green Party won its first ever seat on Surrey County Council in this year's Elections, Jonathan Essex taking Redhill East with a huge majority over the Conservatives. Note that the boundaries have been heavily redrawn since the previous elections in 2009,  so comparisons with then are somewhat moot.

Jonathan Essex, The Green Party - 1,457  (50%) (Elected)
Richard Coad, Conservative – 645 (22%)
Colin Stiff, UKIP – 379 (13%)
Stewart Dack, Labour – 345 (12%)
Andrew James Cressy, Liberal Democrats – 103 (4%)

While in Redhill West and Meadvale we came close to a second seat:
