The Green Party won its first ever seat on Surrey County Council in this year's Elections, Jonathan Essex taking Redhill East with a huge majority over the Conservatives. Note that the boundaries have been heavily redrawn since the previous elections in 2009, so comparisons with then are somewhat moot.
RESULT- REDHILL EAST
Jonathan Essex, The Green Party - 1,457 (50%) (Elected) Richard Coad, Conservative – 645 (22%) Colin Stiff, UKIP – 379 (13%) Stewart Dack, Labour – 345 (12%) Andrew James Cressy, Liberal Democrats – 103 (4%)
While in Redhill West and Meadvale we came close to a second seat:
